Cbs ran an interesting article that chose the greatest all time draft pick of every team. For the Rams they chose Deacon. Can't argue with that. And with the Rams there are many choices to choose from.... As much as I LOVVVVEEEE their choice... I'm gonna go with a tie between he and Aaron Donald. Who do you all choose?

Merlin Olsen.... all day long... a life long RAM,,, 14PB 5AP.....

And if AD keeps his streak with number of PB and AP.... with the same longevity.... then I'll put him first,,,,, but as for now,,, MO....

Torry Holt sure had an immediate impact when drafted in ‘99!

I gotta goal Deacon Jones too because where he was picked. Merlon Olson, Eric Dickerson, Aarron Donald, Bruce, Holt and Steven Jackson get some votes too.

Jack Youngblood, good pick.

Hard not to go with Deacon for me. He was certainly one of the most feared men in the NFL...like Donald is now. Will Donald surpass him? (greatest Ram draft pick ever). Stay tuned!

As bad as those two were... I gotta go Lawrence Phillips on that one.

Phillips was also the one responsible for missing the blitzing Aneas Williams that literally knocked out Steve Young and ended his career.

Phillips had some good games though. I remember a few 100 yard games at least.

+1 and it will.

McVay will also go down in history as our best coach. We are enjoying history being made.

He was our team's leading rusher for the 1996 and '97 seasons, I believe, and had already scored eight TDs when he was jettisoned by head coach Dick Vermeil (who had mishandled the guy from the 'get-go') during the latter season... :( :? :|

I'd have to agree with the choice being "The Secretary of Defense," since (IIRC) he was a 14th-round draft selection back in 1961, as compared to Merlin Olsen being #3 overall in '62 and Aaron Donald #13 overall in 2014.

In terms of value received relative to the 'draft capital' expended to acquire the player, Deacon Jones was arguably the greatest NFL draftee of all time... :) 8-)

His legacy got somewhat tainted later on but I would say Eric Dickerson. Deacon, AD and Orlando right up there with him but ED was an instantaneous huge impact.
