“Just going to go out there to support the guys. Also got some business stuff out there.”
– DT Aaron Donald

Donald will be one of a few starters making the trip to Hawaii.

Although he will not play, he still wanted to make the trip to be there for his teammates.

His presence will be especially beneficial for Sebastian Joseph-Day, Greg Gaines and the other defensive tackles competing for the starting spot beside him which was vacated by departure of Ndamukong Suh this offseason.

Aaron Donald loves training camp and that's bad for everyone else

Lindsey Thiry
ESPN

IRVINE, Calif. -- Aaron Donald’s smile appeared as wide as the No. 99 on his jersey.

The Los Angeles Rams’ superstar resembled an excited kid on his first day of school as he made his way through a throng of fans to enter the practice fields on the campus of UC Irvine.

Donald greeted teammates and coaches, then stood alone, opened his arms and looked to the sky.

“So this is what training camp feels like!” he exclaimed, before the Rams began their first practice of the 2019 season.

Hats off to Donald and Peters IMO.

Not really sure what to think about all this (but for the sake of conversation).

I mean again, I won't question any of McVay's moves - he's probably at the top regarding my all-time favorite coaches.

Gurley staying home seemed logical. The other starters staying home, hmmm idk. Regardless, I'm sure the NFL will look at it closely. Rules are rules, but again…

The NFL wants to make some $$$ on these stupid preseason games (i.e. stupid regarding forcing season ticket holders and others to pay high prices for glorified practices). Sure, these are important games for players trying to gain some valuable on the field experience and making the roster.

But teams showing up with for preseason games with all the "stars" back home can obviously be a bit disappointing for the families whose only chance to see their favorite teams are thru the low ticket cost/relatively unpopular preseason. Two rosters of basically no-names? No stars even on the sidelines, let alone signing some autographs? The preseason was bad enough as a paid event…and again I'm not blaming McVay for doing what could very well be best for the TEAM.

Gurley was announced as a Hawaii no-show pretty early. Were the rest that followed partially to make TG feel a little less alone in that decision? Or, just an idea McVay & Co. had independently of anything other than rest for starters?

Whatever, I find Donald & Peters wanting to travel with their teammates the right stuff. Supporting and helping coach those on the field in real time. It just seems "right" to me. Teammates and team players supporting each other from roster top to bottom like a family. Just my opinion.
