Marshall Faulk, Merlin Olsen ranked among top 60 players of all time

By: Cameron DaSilva

The Rams have had some all-time great players wear the horns in their history, from Deacon Jones to Aaron Donald. Many of the best were on the defensive side of the ball, but there were several All-Pros on offense, too.

USA TODAY is ranking the 100 best players in NFL history in celebration of the league’s 100th season and a few Rams have already made the list. This week, Nos. 51-60 were unveiled and two former Rams appeared in the group.

So Aaron Donald (#88) and Orlando Pace (#69) have already made the list, and should Donald continue to perform as effectively as he did over his first five seasons (2014-18) for another 4-5 years, he should advance down the list in the future.

Along with those two plus Marshall Faulk (#57) and Merlin Olsen (#53), what other Rams' stars should make that list in the Top Fifty?

The only others I'm counting on are David "Deacon" Jones, Eric Dickerson and Kurt Warner, the latter notably because the list has predictably been quarterback-heavy thus far. It looks as though guys like Jack Youngblood, Jackie Slater, Tom Mack and Isaac Bruce have 'missed the cut' at this point.

Richard "Night Train" Lane should make it as well, I'm figuring, however his tenure as a Ram was unfortunately quite limited, although he was in a Rams' uniform when he set the league's all-time single-season record with fourteen interceptions in twelve games, during his 1952 rookie year.

This is my calculation, anyway... :) 8-) :geek:
