...who would we target? I'm thinking someone who can move the pile after contact - limited usage and cheap

I know Marshawn Lynch will be 34 this year (and I know the Seahawks lost) but he looked good in the role he played for them - do we think he has 1 more year of Beast Mode left in him?

If not him - does anyone see any FA options out there?
https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents ... ning-back/

The ones that jump out at me - aside from Lynch - (although no clue how cheap any of them would be) are:
Robert Turbin
Derrick Henry (I know, fat chance, but he's a FA - at least at the moment)
Spencer Ware

Anyone see anything else worth looking at or we go with current/possible draft pick (one mock has us taking Utah RB Zack Moss in 4th round)?

Just curious - what about him jumps out at you?

Draft an every down running back with a mid round pick and let him get some work sharing the workload with Gurley and learning pass protection for 2020 and then move on from Gurley after the season when his cap hit is lower. Malcolm Brown and Henderson are not every down backs. Need a bell cow type that can step in with young legs and a good contract to ease the transition.

Hope there is a 3rd or 4th round bruiser RB like Henry or Lynch. 3 or 4 yards a pop is what we need. Loves contact. Makes Defenses groan in the 4th quarter.

Doubt we use our 2nd rounder on such a player.

A zone schemed, talented north/south runner that can wear the opposing defense down and complement TG. Also have solid hands out of the back field and is a decent pass blocker for a rb.

we have a ton of holes on this roster and RB is not one of them. Let's focus on what needs to be fixed and get this team ready for next year.

Ideally our team would draft a road-grading mauler at center with that selection, which would help both Todd Gurley and his backups perform better at RB during the 2020 season... ;) 8-) :geek:

I would love Zack Moss In the 4th round, but; doubt he falls to the 4th.... late 2nd mid 3rd round back most likely..

Go Rams 🏈🏈🏈

Gurley, Henderson, Brown, Kelly....I think we have the talent at RB assuming we keep all 4 there...even 3. Not a top priority IMO. Get some boys to block and open holes up front. They will do the rest.

Yeah, people just aren't getting that through their thick skills. These dudes play too much Madden and think they're experts all of a sudden.

+ 1

We are stuck with Gurley for at least one more year. The guys behind him have potential. (I still think DH could be special) I don't want anymore running backs.

2020 is the big hit on the cap, $25,650,000, but it then goes way down in 2021 to only $8.4M and then in 2022 to $4.2M. Definitely on this team next year but 2021 will be interesting.

I'd have no problem adding an RB.
Maybe you save $$ on Brown. Just depends on if you think you have a #2 who can be effective in pass pro.

Is rather use all resources to make the Oline dominant again. Do that, and Goff and all of the RBs get better.

I don’t disagree with getting the Oline better. But there’s no reason you can’t do both.

This^

Until I see more from Henderson it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get another back that can do what Gurley appears to can’t anymore. Someone that has the speed to get around the edge. See last AZ game and Gurley’s inability to do such.

Oh- it can and will happen. I would not be opposed to grabbing another back, just don't want to spend a pick there if it's between an OL/DL or a RB. My other point is- Kelly and Henderson looked pretty good in flashes. Why not work with what we have? These are not busts- at least not yet. An improved OL makes en all look a lot better.

we don't need another back we have 4 guys that are good to go. what this team needs is a revamped O line and possibly a WR.

Adding extra talent is never a bad idea. Brown is solid but he isn’t going to crack very many 10+ runs. Adding some speed would not hurt.

I think Henderson has that speed you are talking about. He had some nice runs this year but for whatever reason wasn't given much of a chance. I just think they need to focus on other positions.

The money you’d save by cutting Brown could help pay for a line upgrade. Rams already have plenty of young guys there.
It wouldn’t be crazy to expect them to be better next year, even with the same group.
